"The call of the ministry of Catechist is a vocation an interior call, the voice of the Holy Spirit."  (National Directory for Catechesis, p. 28)

Catechist Training and Certification
Diocese of Wilmington Basic Catechist Certification

Echoes of Faith Plus is a basic level, video-assisted resource for formation, training and enrichment of adults who have taken responsibility for handing on the Catholic faith, especially catechists in parish and Catholic school settings.

Echoes of Faith Plus is built around the three dimensions of catechist formation highlighted in the General Directory for Catechesis: ?Being, knowing, and savior faire? (GDC 238). The fourteen Echoes of Faith Plus DVD and booklet modules are divided into three sets, each addressing one of these dimensions:
Catechist Set (three modules; two-hour process for each module)
Being: Who am I as a catechist and as a disciple of Jesus Christ?
Theology Set (five modules; four-hour process for each module)
        Knowing: What do I teach?
- Methodology Set (six modules; two- hour process for each module)
Savior faire: How do I teach?

Over the course of the school year, all of these modules will be offered.  Our preference is for catechists to come together to be led and participate in discussion of the presented materials.  However, the Methodology for grades 1-8 may be completed at home or with other catechists in the same grade level because they are grade specific.

We will begin with the Catechetical Modules, followed by Methodology, and finish with the Theological modules.  See the schedule below.
